Family counseling, also referred to as family therapy, is a branch of psychotherapy that works with families in intimate relationships to help nurture change and development. This counseling is used to assist change in terms of the interaction between family members since family relationships are an important factor in psychological health.
Regardless of the origin of the problem, involving families in solutions is often beneficial, and family therapy or counseling has been used effectively in the full range of human dilemmas; there is no category of relationship or psychological problem that has not been addressed with this approach.
